DBT in Schools: Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) can be implemented in a school setting across a continuum of services that provide social emotional education, skills and services to students from a universal level (DBT STEPS-A) to school-based mental health programs providing comprehensive school-based Dialectical Behavior Therapy (SB-DBT) to students in clinical or intensive need. And now more than ever, during a time of COVID-19 and into the future, the social emotional health of our students and staff will be of the utmost importance as we all move forward in response to this collective trauma. Many students and staff will be returning to school with an elevated level of anxiety that may be more universal than previous experienced. We hope our upstream approach to building mental wellness and emotional resilience throughout your school community will be a part of your answer to this urgent call.

DBT in Schools, LLC provides a variety of training opportunities to assist schools in identifying and meeting the social emotional needs of their students. We believe it is important that schools look for opportunities to impact the greatest number of students from a universal perspective. We provide a variety of trainings in order to assist schools in implementing DBT across all tiers of academic and social emotional needs. This overview and proposal is aimed at ultimately training schools to implement the DBT Skills in Schools (DBT STEPS-A, 2016) social emotional learning curriculum. The 3-day training on DBT STEPS-A is the foundational training for schools pursuing opportunities to improve student life skills for their universal population. The proposal also includes a description of the other school-based trainings DBT in Schools, LLC provides. Every school has a different start point for how it can begin to implement DBT based skills and strategies within the school. We look forward to working with you to determine the most effective levels of implementation for you.
